Ready to go to bed, but your light switch is across the room? We have a solution for that. Better yet! You will build a solution for that. This workshop teaches you how to build an app, and how to use it to turn off a light. 

Workshop is from 1 pm to 5 pm, and walks through creating an app and interfacing with an LED.

Technical learning: Programming, LED circuits, Power dissipation, forward voltage, circuit power, coding sequences, coding for user design, coding functions for long sequences

Tenative Timeline:

• We're diving right into things. Workshop starts with a brief overview of the internet of things and trends in house automation.

• Then students understand the basic layers of an app, and begin coding the framework. There will be guides for students who haven't coded an app before.

• Finally, students wire up the IoT kit and watch the app control the color. Our advanced students will be challenged to add customization and additional functionality.

Students take the kits home and impress their family and friends.
